BMCLA Engages Health Professionals and Public at NUPW Health & Wellness Day

Bridgetown, Barbados – March 16, 2026 — The Barbados Medicinal Cannabis Licensing Authority (BMCLA) participated in the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) Health & Wellness Day on March 16, 2026, as part of its ongoing commitment to public education and stakeholder engagement.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for BMCLA officers to engage directly with members of the public and the medical fraternity, including doctors and nurses, who expressed growing interest in learning more about Barbados’ medicinal cannabis framework.

During the engagement, BMCLA officers provided information on patient access, the Authority’s regulatory role, and the legal and compliance requirements governing medicinal cannabis in Barbados. The interaction also allowed the Authority to collect contact information from interested healthcare professionals, who have since been added to the BMCLA database for future training sessions and educational initiatives.

The BMCLA booth attracted significant interest, with interactive elements such as the “Spin the Wheel” activity proving to be an effective tool for engaging attendees. Notably, many participants already demonstrated a reasonable level of knowledge about medicinal cannabis and were particularly interested in patient access pathways and regulatory clarity.

The Authority remains committed to strengthening partnerships with health professionals and ensuring the public has access to accurate, clear, and reliable information on medicinal cannabis in Barbados.
